| In response to Bush's call for a surge, A United Surge of the Antiwar Movement on the Birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. Monday January 15 4:00 - 6:00 pm Times Square Recruiting Center 43rd & Broadway Troops Out Now! Not one more penny for the war! Fund jobs, education, and health care for all! Not one more death! End the colonial occupation now! No new wars in Iran, Somalia, or North Korea! | “The security we profess to seek in foreign adventures we will lose in our decaying cities. The bombs in Viet Nam explode at home: they destroy the hope s and possibilities for a decent America...Poverty, urban problems and social progress generally are ignored when the guns of war become a national obsession.” - Martin Luther King, Feb. 1967 As the death toll of U.S. troops passes 3,000 and the number of Iraqi casualties exceeds 600,000, and more than $300 billion have been spent on the war, Bush and Congress want to send 20,000 more troops and spend another $100 billion. This money was stolen from the people who need housing, healthcare, jobs at a living wage, and education.
It is clear that the President and Congress have no intention of ending the war --the people must take action to bring the troops home now.
Join us in Times Square on the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. to say Bring the Troops Home Now!
